The film star's management released a statement in April when rumours of his death first circulated saying the 34-year-old is 'alive and well' and warned fans not to believe everything they read on the internet.
Rumours of the American actor's apparent death re-started on Thursday after a Facebook page, entitled RIP Macaulay Culkin, attracted thousands of comments and likes.
Account-holders were still sharing the fake news on the social media site today.
Reports on various internet sites say the original post read: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Thursday (November 06, 2014), our beloved actor Macaulay Culkin passed away. Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980 in New York. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Culkin, who is also a musician, became famous for his role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone and sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He is also known for his roles in Richie Rich, Uncle Buck, My Girl, The Pagemaster, The Good Son, Party Monster, and the music video for Michael Jackson's "Black or White". At the height of his fame, he was regarded as the most successful child actor since Shirley Temple.
