UGANDA'S RAILWAYS UNDER NRM AND MUSEVENI

Photo: UGANDA RAILWAYS @ 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCEWhat is the point of having a railway station in Uganda for a non functional service? It is akin to having an airport or airfield where not even helicopters can land. For instance since the late 1960s Tororo has had an airfield that I am su
re the wananchi could have recovered for farming purposes other than allow bushes to grow in their neighborhood. If there are no plans to invest in Rail transport, these facilities need to be turned into more useful venues other than reminding us of what once was but is now all but an imagination. We all know rail transport would be the most effective way of reducing carnage on our cow tracts that we call roads and even cheaper to maintain but we are not yet there because we are still squeezing the little juice hiding in those bananas.
