Marking of the
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams may be delayed
this year if the financial crisis which has hit the exams body is not
resolved quickly.
Marking of S6 exams was slated to start on January 2, 2014, but may be postponed, if the exam body does not receive funding from the education ministry in time, according to its publicist Hamis Kaheru.
Marking of P7 and S4 exams is complete but results are yet to be tallied. However, late last evening, there was a glimmer of hope that the marking exercise will not be interrupted, following the promise by the finance ministry to release the funds.
The education minister, Jessica Alupo, said the finance ministry was scheduled to release sh6.6b for P7 and S4 candidates’ registration (those under universal education) and marking of their exams, today. A further sh3.2b, she said would be released to cater for registration fees and marking of S6 exams.
