Luwero district held another by election for the woman Member of
Parliament seat on Thursday. It’s the second by elections since 2011.
Democratic Party’s Brenda Nabukenya is confident of her victory given the large crowds she has been attracting since the campaigns kicked off on May 8th. She has also been attracting many opposition figures in the historical district .However, NRM’S Rebecca Nalwanga is also firm that she will win the by election.
NRM is trying to use the election to prove that it is still strong in its historical district by regaining the seat.President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was Luweero to boost the NRM Camp ahead of Thursday’s by-election .Luweero district chairperson and NRM vice chairperson for Central region
Hajji Abdul Naduli is optimistic that the NRM camp is strong that will win the polls by over 70%.
He says the 2011 by-election loss was precipitated by the inflation rate which hit the highest rate at the time and the low voter turn up.
Also in the race are independents Ramla Kadala and Faridah Namubiru.
