Residents
of Muyenga, a Kampala city suburb woke up to shock on Friday morning to
news of the death of one of their own-city tycoon Eria Sebunnya Bugembe
alias Kasiwukira in mysterious circumstances.
His body was early Friday morning found a few meters from his Muyenga home, friends said.

There are conflicting accounts as to how Kasiwukira as he was popularly known died, with some saying he was knocked by a speeding car while others claimed he was killed by iron bar hit men moments after he left home, to walk as part of his regular morning exercise.
Kasiwukira was a member of the Kwagalana Club, a club of the affluent in in Kampala. The Chairman of the Kwagalana club, Godfrey Kirumira confirmed the death of Kasiwukira, describing it as a shock and loss to the group.
“It is very sad and everybody is in shock,” Kirumira said. “He was doing exercise-walking when he was killed,” he said adding that the early morning walk was part of Kasiwukira’s daily exercise regimen.
The body, he said, had been transferred to Mulago hospital for postmortem.
Kabalagala police boss Francis Chemusto who rushed to the scene in the morning said they have launched a probe into the death. “Given the conflicting accounts we will have to rely on forensic evidence,” he said.
Family, relatives and friends have started congregating at the fallen tycoon's home to express their condolescences.

Until his death Kasiwukira was the deputy treasurer of the Kwagalana Club. He owned SEB Industries which manufactures tiles and pavers.
Kasiwukira made his fortune as a pioneer music promoter and was the proprietor of Kasiwukira Studios. His humble beginning was selling cassette music tapes through vendors. He would burn music from the old gram phone turn table and transfer onto tapes.
He was also a real estate mogul with several properties in and around Kampala. His properties include Nalubwama Arcade on Ben Kiwanuka Street and Temuseo Mpoza on Luwum Street.

over a businessman Eria Ssebunnya Bugembe and killed him. Bugembe,
commonly known as Kasiwukira, was killed outside his home in Muyenga at
around 6:30 am on Friday as he went on a morning run.
