Old Kampala Police boss, Joram Tumwesigye, who is alleged to have assaulted a journalist, has been arrested.
He was arrested by the Regional Police Commander in charge of Kampala Metropolitan North Wesley Nganizi.
Tumwesigye was arrested by the Regional Police Commander in charge of Kampala Metropolitan North, Wesley Nganizi, who presented him to the Central Police Station (CPS) before the investigations boss.
Tumwesigye is said to have assaulted Andrew Lwanga a reporter with a local TV station in Kampala while covering a group of opposition youth who were demonstrating against unemployment on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said Tumwesigye has recorded a statement and charged with assault.
He said the police are calling for witnesses who were at the scene at the time of scuffle to testify in court.
The assaulted journalist was Tuesday morning at CPS to obtain a police medical form. Lwanga who was complaining of severe headache was in the company of his mother Jennifer Lwanga and his brother Joseph Kawuki.
