Congolese National Arrested in Hand Grenade Incident in Nakulabye

In Nakulabye, a neighborhood within Rubaga Division, an alarming event transpired last Tuesday when an explosion occurred inside a residence due to a hand grenade. Consequently, a 39-year-old individual from the Democratic Republic of Congo was taken into custody. Swift action by the police ensured the safety of family members, as explained by Mr. Fred Enanga, the spokesperson for the police force. The suspect, who has been living in Uganda for the past four years, reportedly admitted to unlawfully bringing the hand grenade into the country. Notably, the detonation of the grenade did not result in any injuries to the family members. Enanga provided additional details, mentioning, "No family member got injured. The family had stayed in the area for 4 years after migrating as refugees from North Kivu." Following the incident, investigators collected various items for further examination, including a safety pin, a green lead, a spoon, and soil samples. The evidence suggested that the hand grenade had exploded at the location, and the suspect confessed to having illegally imported it into the country. Furthermore, the statement revealed that the suspect had tampered with the hand grenade. In response to this event, law enforcement agencies have issued a strong reminder to all refugees to abide by the laws of Uganda in order to avoid potential arrest and subsequent legal proceedings. This occurrence emphasizes the significance of adhering to legal regulations for the safety and security of all residents within Uganda.
