Makerere student battles for life after falling off a police patrol car during a strike

An unidentified student is in a critical condition after he tried jumping off a speeding Police patrol truck that was rushing him to Wandegeya Police station following his arrest during the ongoing strike at Makerere University main campus.
Students carry the critically injured student in an ambulance.
“The police started the car at a very high speed and the student jumped off. He fell down, thrusting his head against the tarmac. We tried using the western gate to carry him to the hospital but police instead fired teargas to disperse us. The tear gas worsened the condition of the injured student,” an eye witness told this reporter. He is currently being treated in the intensive care unit at National Referral Hospital, Mulago….doctors say it is a matter of life and death but they are doing everything they can to rescue this comrade’s life.
“If Dumba does not go today, I will leave this campus,” an outraged student told Campusbee.
Today is the third day in a row Makerere University students are striking. Even after the varsity administration extended the deadline of full tuition payment to 27th March, the students want the 100% tuition policy which requires them to have paid off all the tuition fees in the 6th week of the semester scrapped off.
