KAMPALA - In a shocking development, the Police have recovered up to 13 dead bodies from beaches in Entebbe following a weekend of Christmas festivities.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Monday said the bodies were discovered along the shores
near the airport and around the beaches in Entebbe.

“We only got a report of one person who had gone missing after he had gone to the beach with his friends. We discovered that he was one of the deceased,” Onyango said.

Natete, Abubaker Ssensonyia of Kawempe Kigagga Zone, Haruna Mubiru, Sula Kato, Arafat Kabonge, Richard Senyondo and
Abdu Wakayeli.

One of the managers of Sports beach in Entebbe, Joseph Omuna, told one of the reporters he was celebrating a joyous day of no incidents when his staff saw bodies floating on the water.

"We have got reports that most of the deceased had been drunk by the time they drowned," he said.

On Saturday, the Police and marines from the UPDF had told people to leave the water after weather conditions seemed to have changed and huge waves slapped the beach shores. Some revelers who had been seen with alcohol in the water hesitated to leave the water fearing arrest, according to some of the reporters.
