KAMPALA
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Rt.
Rev. Stanley Ntagali, has been installed as the 7th bishop of Kampala
Diocese and vowed to maintain the stand on the sanctity of marriage
between man and woman. He said the church would strengthen the family
ties and work with partner organisations to ensure that families stand
their ground against any attacks.
Retired Archbishop Henry Luke Orombi handed over
the pastoral instruments to Archbishop Ntagali who took over the helm of
the province last week at a service held at All Saints Cathedral,
Nakasero in Kampala.
According to the church arrangement, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda becomes the automatic Bishop of Kampala.

“The growth of the city and its cosmopolitan
population has come with an increase in crime, which in turn has stuffed
the number of prisons,” said archbishop Ntagali in his maiden speech to
the diocese.
“Drug abuse has increased especially in slums and schools and crimes of passion are on the rise,” he said.

He said the church would give unreserved support
to the prisons ministry already in place and also work with police to
enable the church counsellors to access the suspects and teach them
about the Bible.
“For those that are in grief, the sick and those in loss, the church is supposed to be the place where comfort will be found,” said archbishop Ntagali.

“As a church and diocese of Kampala, we would
like to move out and be the vessels the Lord will use to nurse the
hurting souls to find solace in Christ our saviour.” Bishop Orombi
commended the church for preaching unity.
