The ultimate Valentine's Day 2014 restaurant guide

Valentine's Day (Feb. 14, in case you didn't know) is next Friday, so if you and your sweetie are still thinking about dining out, here's a list of V-Day specials and prix-fixe menus from restaurants throughout Los Angeles. Reservations are probably going fast....
A.O.C. celebrates Valentine’s Day with a four-course menu prepared by chef de cuisine Lauren Herman. Menu highlights include: wild mushroom tart with fromage blanc, hazelnut persillade and fine herbs; hamachi crudo with beet-meyer lemon salsa, kumquats and pistachio aillade; braised beef cheek with roasted kabocha squash, pea tendrils, green garlic soubise and truffle butter; and, mascarpone semifreddo with bittersweet chocolate, crushed amaretti and cocoa nib brittle. $100 per person (beverage, excluding taxes and gratuity supplemental wine pairing available). 8700 West 3rd St., Los Angeles, (310) 859-9859, www.aocwinebar.com.
Acabar’s chef Octavio Becerra is offering a four-course Valentine’s Day menu featuring: chilled vichyssoise with oyster fritter and vadouvan ghee; warm lobster salad with mango, fenugreek raita and curry leaf mousse; and braised lamb with cauliflower, creamed pine nuts and pear chutney and honey-cardamom. $125 per person. 1510 N. Bar Marmont chef Carolynn Spence is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a "Love Me/Love Me Not" menu for those celebrating love -- and those that are not. A la carte highlights include: caviar and oysters served on a bed of roses with pink peppercorn mignonette (Love Me) and a variety of chocolates and cookies served with a small pink hammer and a shot of whiskey (Love Me Not). Libations include: The Love Fool  with pisco, fresh lime juice, sugar, fresh mint, cucumber and rose water; and The Restraining Order  with silver tequila, St. Germain, fresh lemon juice, celery bitters and raspberry sugar. Chateau Marmont, 8171 W. Bow & Truss is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a four-course menu with buttercup squash soup with marcona almond crème fraiche; baby kale salad with sherry, pistachios, parmesan tuile and preserved lemon honey; Mary’s chicken with xato sauce, salt cured potatoes and collard greens; and chocolate covered cherries. $65 per person. 11122 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, (818) 985-8787, www.bowandtruss.com.
Cafe del Rey is offering a surf-and-turf, three-course menu for Valentine’s Day, including winter seafood, prime cuts of meat, house-made pastas, and shareable dishes, such as: filet carpaccio with arugula, fried capers, egg, and mustard; scallops served with fennel, yukon gold potatoes, guanciale, tangerines, arugula, and citrus powder; and, New York strip steak with grilled escarole, garlic mashed potatoes, and red wine jus. $85 per person (tax and gratuity not included). 5-11 pm. 4451 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, (310) 823-6395, www.cafedelreymarina.com.
Catalina Kitchen has created a Valentine’s Day embodying its classic Mediterranean fare with an evening of ”Tapas for Two.  The menu features spanish saffron rice with garlic lobster tails, scallops, chicken, and sausage; oysters on ice; crispy green lip mussels with almond and scallion gazpacho; olive oil shrimp with toasted garlic and red chili oil, warm almond crusted manchego cheese with a hot garlic vinaigrette and slivered almonds; squid with bacon and garlic oil; and, artisan chocolate truffles and chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert. Cecconi’s is featuring Valentine’s Day specials for two, including a seafood platter with oysters mignonette, cured salmon, pickled jalapeño, steam langoustine celery heart salad and octopus ceviche ($38); whole, wood oven roasted turbot which is fileted tableside and served with potatoes, taggiasca olives, lemon and cherry tomatoes ($58); and double chocolate tart with wild berries ($15). 8764 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, www.cecconiswesthollywood.com.
Church & State, located in the heart of the Arts District in downtown L.A., will be featuring a $95 ($145 wine pairing) prix-fixe menu using ingredients known for their aphrodisiac qualities. Comme Ça offers a Valentine’s Day menu inspired by the memories of Julia Child and her husband Paul’s love of the holiday and their quirky celebrations while living in France. This “Sweethearts Dinner” will include dishes such as a rolled omelet with osetra caviar, crème fraiche and chives ($15 supplement); lobster thermidor with Cognac cream and glazed English peas and carrots; and gateaux Paris-Brest with toasted almond and praline crème or chocolate soufflé with vanilla raspberry anglaise. $59 per person. 5:30 to 11 p.m. 8479 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, (323) 782-1104, www.commecarestaurant.com.
Craft is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a $95-per-person prix-fixe menu. First courses and desserts served for the table. Special dishes include hamachi with jasmine and cucumber; purple yam agnolotti and pecorino; Sonoma duck with farro and chestnuts; and chocolate almond torte and creamsicle panna cotta for dessert. Dog Haus has a Valentine’s weekend “Love Connection Combo” for two Feb. 14 to 17. The combo includes a 12-inch hot dog topped with arugula, bacon and caramelized onions and accompanied with the Love Boat: fries or tots  topped with Haus chili and Haus slaw.  The combo is completed with a single chocolate chip cookie to share, and a choice of drinks -- either a canned beer (Old Pasadena only) or milkshake. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 93 E. Dominique’s Kitchen in Redondo Beach is offering a four-course menu for Valentine's Day for $59.99 per person. Menu highlights include: smoked duck breast salad with pan seared polenta, baby heirloom tomatoes, arugula, Belgian endives in a raspberry vinaigrette; filet mignon with porcini and port wine reduction, potato gratin, farmer's market vegetables; and, strawberry tart. Drago Centro and chef Celestino Drago are offering a four-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu featuring antipasti of burrata and prosciutto with gnocco fritto and arugula as well as grilled swordfish, celery root, capers and olives. $68 per person. 525 S. The Federal Bar in North Hollywood is celebrating Valentine’s Day weekend with an a la carte dinner and a burlesque performance. Fig & Olive executive chef Pascal Lorange offers a three-course prix-fixe dinner inspired by the French Riviera.
