UNEB releases 2013 UCE results


The education ministry has released the 2013 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results indicating a drop in overall performance compared to the previous year.


Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) secretary, Mathew Bukenya, however said the drop in performance was not significant

Girls performed better than the boys in English Language and English Literature.

The best done subject was English Language while Chemistry was the worst done.

UNEB is holding results of over 1,800 candidates due to examination malpractices. Bukenya said candidates received assistance in mainly science practical papers.

A total of 295,494 candidates sat for the exams last year, marking a notable increase by 26,712 from 268,782 candidates in 2012.

 Of these 20,001 passed in Division One representing a 7%, 43,893 candidates passed in Division Two representing a 15.3%. IA total of 57,947 are in Division Three representing a 20.2% with the biggest number of candidates totaling to 139,597 in Division Four representing a 48.7%.

A total of 25,229 failed the examinations which represents a 8.8%.
