Amazon starts same-day delivery in Philly

Amazon.com announced Wednesday its same-day delivery program on thousands of items has expanded to Philadelphia.
"Starting today, customers can order as late as noon, seven days a week and get things like popular movies, video games, last-minute travel needs, back-to-school supplies, and family necessities delivered to their home the same day," the company said in a press release.
Julie Law, an Amazon spokeswoman, said she could not name specific couriers the online retailer will use. However, she did say the program will actually reach beyond the city.

"The Amazon same-day delivery area includes the City of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania suburban areas, including Northern Delaware, Southeastern Montgomery and Lower Bucks Counties, roughly bordered by I-476 to the west and I-276 to the north," Law said. "Also, suburban New Jersey areas bordered by Riverton to the north, Cherry Hill to the east (bordered by I-295), and Woodbury to the south. But I recommend that customers go to Amazon.com/same-day to check their ZIP code as well."
Amazon has multiple warehouses/order fulfillment centers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
The service costs Prime members $5.99 for all the same-day delivery items they can order. Non-prime members pay a $9.98 fee for the first item and $0.99 for each additional item. All orders must be placed by noon to qualify for same-day service, which is available seven days a week.
In addition to Philly, the service started Wednesday in the Baltimore, Dallas, Indianapolis, New York City and Washington, D.C., metro areas. It previously was only available in Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco and Seattle
