PLE results expected on January 15 - Uneb

The Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has announced that the marking and verification of the 2014 Primary Leaving Examinations has been concluded.
According to the Uneb spokesperson, Mr Hamis Kaher, the release of the results is expected on January 15.
“We have already done our part and if the minister [Ms Jessica Alupo] is not busy, she will release them on the proposed date,” Mr Kaheru said by telephone last week.
A Primary Seven candidate is deemed to have passed the exams if he/she garners between aggregates 4 and 28.
Unlike in 2013 where government released marking fees late, Mr Kaheru said this time the money was disbursed in time, enabling Uneb examiners to complete marking and verification of exams early.
In 2013, Uneb experienced numerous glitches in the marking of the exams after the Finance ministry allegedly delayed to disburse Shs6.5b to facilitate PLE, O-Level and A-Level examiners. This pushed marking and verification of PLE exams into January 2014 and the subsequent release of results to the end of the month – affecting last year’s education calendar.
Mr Kaheru said marking of Senior Four exams has also been completed and the board is currently processing the results.
“We are optimistic that they (Senior Four results) will also be ready for release by the end of January and marking of A-Level results will also commence soon,” he added.
Uneb usually releases A-Level results in mid March to enable successful candidates prepare for the university academic year which commences in September.
